For those of you who like to eat fruits should begin to consider blueberries or strawberries as an option. Recent research indicates, fresh fruit snack habits this one bring substantial benefits to health, which helps lower blood pressure.

In a study published the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the scientists discover the real benefits of blueberries after monitoring the diet about 160,000 men and women for 14 years. The scientists analyzed one element in the diet that antioxidant substances called flavonoids.

Studies show that people who ate the most anthocyanins-a type of flavonoid-recorded 12 percent lower risk of high blood pressure than those who rarely eat fruits that contain antioxidants.
Bluberie and strawberries are two kinds of fruit that is believed to be the best source of anthocyanins. In fact, those who regularly eat about 1/2 cup of blueberries a week recorded 10 per cent lower high blood pressure than those who never eat this fruit.Previous research that links also exist with the substance anthocyanins blood vessels more flexible.

"Anthocyanins can increase the production of sodium oxide in the body, which makes the blood vessels become more flexible so that blood can more easily pass through," said Aedin Cassidy, Ph.D., a researcher from the University of East Anglia, England.

But what about the other antioxidants? The scientists also conducted a study to other types of flavonoids - are contained in dark chocolate, red wine and tea - and has a quasi-efficacy reduce the risk of hypertension.

However, flavonoids in blueberries seem to still be superior. "Other antioxidants may also reduce the risk of high blood pressure, but not as good as anthocyanins. Why? Your estimate is not as good as they got, but future research will uncover questions about this,"
